About

Hi there, I’m Jon, aka the Meade Mule. The Meade Mule is an independently owned and operated website based in Nashville, TN.

There are plenty of great whiskey review websites out there. So why bother with another one? When I first started MeadeMule.com, I didn’t really intend for it to be solely about whiskey. If you go back and look at my early posts, you’ll find a variety of topics, including sports, science, and politics, as well as whiskey and beer. You might say it was a mid-life crisis sort of thing… I wanted a place to write and share my thoughts. A place that wasn’t Facebook. And hence the Mule was born.

It didn’t take long for me to figure out that what I like to write about most are the things I like the most—whiskey and beer, in particular. So while every once in a while you may see me throw out some other random thoughts about life on earth (usually sports-related), the Mule is now firmly a whiskey content site, with a bit of beer, cocktails, and other alcoholic beverages making an occasional appearance.

So why should you bother with another whiskey website? Well… I do take nice pictures (usually). All of my reviews are completely independent, based on bottles that I’ve bought myself (or were gifts from friends/family). I don’t take money or gifts from anyone in the whiskey business. I’m a fairly competent writer (I masquerade as a technical writer by day). And I like to think I’m not too bad at this whole review thing. At the very least, you’ll get an honest opinion from someone who has been enjoying scotch, bourbon, and rye for well over a decade now.

One of the things I love about whiskey and beer (and sports) is that they bring together people from all kinds of different backgrounds, ethnicities, political opinions, etc. Two people who would normally not have much in common can easily spend hours talking about their favorite alcoholic beverages. Hopefully you’ll find something to enjoy here on the Mule, regardless of your background.

Anyhow…. welcome. I hope you like it here.
